I think it is safe to say that my little bit of "math" was just to show how easy it would be for the US internet populat to be well under half the total. Yes, there are all sorts of people who aren't reasonable candidates for internet... but a Heaping Shitload are in the right economic class to have it-- in fact, a Heaping Shitload *do* have internet access.
My point was this... The US is a tiny part of the world.
Let me put it another way... The US is a tiny part of the industrialized world. Take most of Europe, large parts of Asia, most of Australia, reasonable chunks of South America, some of Africa, and even the *rest* of North America. Rule out all the super-poor regions. You still have a lot of people who aren't Americans, who can afford to have internet access.
Yes, numbers would have been better... but I didn't have any. ;) Hence, a little theorizing based on nice super-simple numbers. More an illustration of something that should be obvious, than the reason that it is obvious.
