The best mainstream scam is to say you're an internet/home based/entrepreneur. Go to a local sports car shop and take pictures of the car. Go take pics of some expensive homes and get some hot babes in bikinis pics and collage them and hook up an affiliate program where you tell people they can make $10,000 a week in website marketing.
It never fails. You'll be lying through your teeth but as Fonzie once said "Bullshit makes the world go round."
