Hard clay soil clouds lofts up as my feet trample through the field. There is no time for me to stop and think there is a hunter on the prowl for a victim. I must make it to the drainage ditch to have any chance of survival. Three feet of muddy irrigation ditch is all that can save me. The sound of wild peacocks screeching like wounded battle victims mangled and waiting to die. It is hard not to stumble in the softly tilled cornfield, for it was like running in desert sand dunes. My feet dig deep into the ground and are hard to pull out; I am becoming more tired with each step.
Tossing my rifle into the ditch, I dive headlong down the mud is hot like chocolate pudding from the hot valley sun. I can now take time to breathe and try to plan my escape from the trained assassin that is stalking me. The walnut orchard to my left would give me many hiding spots and tactical strong points. And my monkey like climbing abilities will certainly come in handy there. A sniper?s position would be perfect for a stealth attack if I have lost my pursuer. I must make a break soon for this ditch is nothing but a death trap.
