I think I have it figured out.

You take the # of pages in the thread, times that by Pi (3.14....). Divide that by the # 25th reply on the middle page (ie 6 pages, 3rd page is the middle, so the 25th post on the 3rd page), and that is the exact post # where the thread has stopped talking about it's topic and people start to call each other names.
