I'll never forget the time my house was raided by the LA County Sheriff's and Hermosa Beach PD (looking for a friend of mine).
The next day my neighbor told me he was listening to his scanner and thought it sounded close, so he stuck his head out the front door only to have a cop on his porch tell him to go back inside.
