If they nuked Sac the winds would blow towards Tahoe and into Reno, depending on how big the bomb was. So you would just die a more slow death than a fast one by going to Tahoe.
If they hit the Valley in LA most of Santa Monica would be fine because the winds would carry the crap inland more, once again depending on how big the bomb was.
I seriously doubt we would have any idea of this. There are so many threats out there everyday if they told us all of them we would all not leave our houses. Wait half of the people on this board don't leave their houses never mind.
