The article, though, is stupid. It talks about the beautiful design of Apple and BMW, and then uses a site making $4M a year to argue that people now prefer shitty design.
Obviously, Apple and BMW laugh at $4M a year. Apple has a market capitalization of about $55 billion, BMW one of over $25 billion.
Sites like the one mentioned prove that design isn't everything, not that design doesn't matter. (and, probably, they also prove that free stuff attracts people)
