There's some SAD truth in Brad's statement though. Back in the mid-90's I worked as a car insurance adjuster and you guys wont believe what people will do to chump the system. In particular, some cars that got jacked up really bad are split into sections and SPOT WELDED with non-damaged sections and actually driven. Sure, they have "salvage" titles but this doesn't prevent them being sold. Who wouldn't want a 2 year old salvage title BMW for up to 33% off going prices for similar models? Sad shit. I wouldn't buy a salvage former "fixer upper"--its the automobile equivalent of riding in a paper bag.
