Paysite Owners, NEW MPEG Access Denied Problem!
Hi Guys. Haven't posted here in a while. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm writing because I've come across something that could potentially affect many of you, especially the Paysite owners out there.
Over the past week our customer support emails for help with Mpeg Video clips have gone thru the roof. Our members were emailing us with problems we had never heard of before. Tonight I went in and downloaded the newest version of Windows Media Player (Version 9).
-I tried to play an mpeg from my members area.
-Result? Windows Media Player Reported Access Denied. I looked into that and it seems Windows Media Player is now looking for some sort of digital certificate before playing an mpeg.
-Next I tried saving the mpeg to my disk and then playing it off the hard drive.
-Result? Windows Media Player said the file was not recognized and not a valid file.
-Then I put the mpeg on a link outside the members area.
-Result? it worked fine.
So it seems that the new Windows Media Player will only play mpegs that are linked outside a secure area and won't play them without this "digital license/certificate". I tried running mpegs off Scoreland, Milf Hunter, Bangbus. Same result.
Have any of you heard of this? Is there a way around it? And if not this seems like a major problem for a number of paysites. I'm thinking the only option is recoding all the video clips to another format. Not exactly a cost/time effective option. Any feedback at all would be appreciated. Thanks :-)))
