Canon announcement of 30D is pretty lackluster.

Looks like Nikon has an upper hand with the D200 for a little more market share (at least get some back from the 20D market).

Canon have finally ended the suspense and rumors by announcing today their new "prosumer" DSLR, the Canon EOS 3XD. As widely rumored it has an APS-C format ("1.6 multiplier") CMOS sensor but the rumor of a 10MP sensor unfortunately turned out to be inaccurate. The EOS 30D retains the same 8.2 sensor as the EOS 20D. The EOS 30D is expected to ship in March at a price of $1400 Here's a short list of the major features:

8.2MP CMOS sensor
APS-C format (1.6x multiplier, 22.5 x 15mm)
2.5", 230,000 pixel LCD display (same as EOS 5D)
5 frames/sec continuous shooting with optional 3 fps mode
Buffer for 30 JPEGs or 11 RAW images
Flash Sync at 1/250s
Picture Style modes (same as EOS 5D)
ISO 100-1600 in 1/3 EV steps, plus ISO 3200
Luminance and RGB histogram displays
ISO visible in viewfinder while being changed
3.5% spot metering
Improved AF performance
Compatible with BG-E2 vertical grip (same as EOS 20D)
Availabilty March 2006
Estimated street price $1400
