Let me break it down for you... And watch - someone like SleazyDream will come along and go, "Yeah, all you fuckers don't give a shit about the modem users! That way I can make even mooooore money!"
Here it goes....
On AVERAGE every website gets this many sign ups from this many countries:
US - 85% - 90%
UK - 4% - 5%
CA - 2% - 3%
FR - 2% - 3%
EVERYBODY ELSE = Basically nothing... about 5% total... and that is EVERYBODY ELSE! Every other country in the world = 5%... So those of you who use adwords, only target US/CA/UK everyone else is just clicking and not buying and it also HUGELY cuts down on your click fraud since most proxies used for click fraud are from outside the US! In other words, click fraudsters don't even see your ad to click it.
The AVERAGE sponsor sees traffic about like this:
50% US
14% Couldn't tell
4% German
3% Canada
And once again not a whole lot of everyone else...
"So what does this mean? I look at my stats on my TGP and it shows that I get 14% German traffic! Right and of those, only 28% actually click through to the sponsor and of those only less than 1% actually buy... Now multiply this by Japan, Korea, China and all of the other countries that make up 40% of your TGP traffic. They are making less than 5% of your sales and the countries that actually buy are listed above with the addition of Mexico 1%, Japan 1%, Iceland .5%, Germany .5%, Australia .5%...
The top INTERNET ACCESS (not necessarily broadband) counties are the US, China, Japan, Germany, South Korea, United Kingdom, France, Italy, India, Canada, Brazil, Taiwan, Mexico, Spain, Australia. (in that order * I left out the European Union because I don't even know what the fuck that is! And isn't Spain and France part of it?)...
Which ones buy porn? US 85% - UK 5% - CA 2.5% - FR 2.5%...
What does this mean? It means the US/UK/CA/FR have MONEY! It also means that the US/UK/CA/FR have methods to pay for porn.
Now even though China is vastly becoming an internet powerhouse they are also MUCH larger than the US... So you have a lot of people with NO MONEY and even if they had it, I doubt you see many transactions outside of Hong Kong... So people who have money BUY PORN... People with no money DO NOT BUY PORN...
Because the dollar is stronger than CA$/AU$ you don't see them buying to much porn.. But the UK$ is worth more than the US$ so they do.
Now sponsors can search their databases and whois a few IP's at random... guess what, they are for broadband providers... BUt, but, but, AOL! Right, AOL has users who are paying a premium for their service. They didn't go budget. So they will stick around and pay for porn no matter how slow it loads.
The real issue should be, am I targeting my traffic correctly? You can create a site with smaller thumbs or whatever for dialup users or with different sponsors with different payment options for different countries. But it doesn't matter either way... Broadband users BUY porn because they HAVE MONEY. They have 20" screens and faster CPU's... I don't know anyone with dialup that has a screen bigger than 17 inches. I know a shitload of broadband users who think 17" is a joke and 19" is minimal...
Sure modem users DO pay for porn. If they didn't, access scripts wouldn't have special routines written into them just for AOL users. But look at the global statistics for who pays for porn. 85% American! Why? Because we have MONEY... Who has money in America? Broadband subscribers do!
There is no reason why the stats for who is paying broadband vs. dialup would be any different than who is paying US vs. the rest of the world! It is all about MONEY!
I run a TGP with a text version for modem users and a thumbs version for everyone else... Guess which one gets 95% of the traffic? The thumbs version... why? Because even modem users will wait for a picture to load if there is a silky red thong wrapped up inside a tanned globie ass!
