I would argue that the outcome for Cheney is just as bad, regardless of whether they covered-up that fact that he was drunk. The headlines are still as damaging personally and professionally. Also.. I fail to see how if the guy were shot at 15ft away implies that Cheney was drunk? this is just rampant, irresponsible speculation
I would think that if the 'government' or whatever really wanted to cover something up, they would have come up with a different story.. that the guy who was shot would have been whisked away to a military hospital via helicopter and Cheney would have never been involved in any way.. now THAT would be a cover-up.. and not very difficult to do. This story would have never seen the light of day if there was a decision to perform a cover-up.
