Yeah sure I have. Though I am sure some will say not to buy the kits I suggest you buy one anyways. It will give you the basic equipment needed and a decent recipe book to boot.
Then well it is just a matter of finding a decent fish monger in your area. Busy ones are best by the way, high turn over and all. Do not expect everything to be sushi grade though. Just find what is fresh and work from there. Oh and practice a lot on making the rice.

yeah get the right rice, dont buy a crappy machine that makes the rolls, thats half of the fun. Look up how to make them and practice in your hand and dont worry, Ive been in plenty of sushi bars where the rice fell apart.
