They pulled off re-makes like starskey and hutch, charlie's angels, because of the addition of humour and fun-poking at the now-dated elements. To re-make Miami Vice in a serious way is a lot more difficult. Judging from the preview, I think they've pulled it off. And lets face it, if anyone can do it, Michael Mann can.
