What he said:

Chretien continued: "And I do think the Western world is getting too rich in relation to the poor world and necessarily, you know, we're looked upon as being arrogant, self-satisfied greedy and with no limits. And Sept. 11 is an occasion for me to realize it even more." **
What's wrong with what he said? I don't see him as pointing a finger at the US. He states clearly that it's the western world (which includes Canada). Where he is talking directly about the US, is when he refers to Wall Street executives being unhappy that Canada has full diplomatic relations to Cuba.
Seems to me that the guy hoping to get elected next year wants it to be perceived that Chretien was referring to the US as asking for it, just so he has backing from voter & the US when election time comes around.
I'm not really into politics, however, I think Chretien gaves us a view of how things are done - favors are paid back by favors - this in any government - worldwide. His mistake was admitting to it matter-of-factly (which we all know that's the way the world goes round) Just that the next guy wanting to rule the country likes to pretend it won't happen when it's his turn.
Yeah, right.
As for Canada's forces....do we have any? Heck I think the toughest thing we have are my kids waterguns heheh.
Seriously, we are a pacifist country, we try not to stir up shit. We don't want to be number one - number one has alot of consequences. Being number two would be a nice position to hold but we're not there.
