It's not a matter of taking things personally. I've had much worse said to me here and brushed it off, but I do make a mental note. If I'm considering hiring someone, or choosing which sponsor to highlight, or whatnot, and all other things are equal, a negative interaction is enough to send me the other way. Especially when I did nothing to provoke it...I remember Chris saying some rotten things to me, but I don't hold it over his head at all, because I know I pretty much brought it on myself.
To me, someone's personality is a factor in my business decision..if they present themselves well, I will be proud to say I work with them. If they are even-tempered, I don't have to worry about them reflecting negatively on me. If they go around treating people like shit, it will eventually catch up to them, and it will likely affect me, so I'd rather work with someone I enjoy working with.
It's not *just* skill that gets you by in life. It is personality, too.
And I watch how people treat other people, as well, not just how they treat me. If webmaster A treats everyone like shit, chances are higher he's gonna fuck me over. I don't mean those "brutally honest to the point of being pricks" people, either. At least you always know where you stand with those guys.
Maybe I'm thinking like a woman, but I'm pretty sure everyone, man or woman, would prefer to do business with people they like, respect, and trust.
