Do you think about the effect of your words on your biz before you post?

I'm just curious....

Someone said something shitty to me in another thread-someone I've never, that I recall, had any contact with, so I was somewhat amused and even more so, puzzled by it. This person seems to be pretty talented at what he or she does, but after having been ambushed by him or her, I would likely never do business with him or her.

I know this is GFY and all, but really, that's a shaky excuse for bad behavior when your actions or words, more accurately, can affect your bottom line. When you behave professionally, people perceive you as professional. When you act like a boorish ass, that's the perception people have of you, and it would take a pretty brilliant talent to be able to overcome that kind of a reputation-especially when there are at least a dozen prominent competitors equally talented who do NOT have shitty attitudes.

There are people here who can give your business a big boost should you come into some sort of deal or partnership with them...and I'd wager many of them do keep an eye on how the people they are interested in working with behave. So, maybe it's just me, but I do try my best to mind my p's and q's and represent myself the best way I can, particularly when I am in a debate with someone, because that's a good indicator of how you will react under pressure. Of course we all make mistakes sometimes, and I am no exception to that rule, that's for sure. But I don't start shit just to get a reaction, and I really try not to step on anyone's toes unless they really, really asked for it, because you never know who you may need in the future.
