You also can't look at a drop and say something is dieing. It could be a new competitor gained in traffic instead, it could be Alexa changed something, it could be the site itself restructured itself. Too many variables.

as i understand it, alexa traffic ranking is based on "comparative" ranking within the scheme of total websites.
over time there are more total websites, so it is possible that a site's hits could remain the same (or even increase) but their alexa ranking could go down simply because there are a larger number of websites to absorb traffic.
someone can correct me if i'm wrong.
