I don't blame them for it. Hell, it sells and some of the songs will be considered classic in 10 years so who can say they are wrong. Girls love them.

But, you can no longer call them punk. Punk is more than just a sound (which they no longer have)... it's the style, the sensibility, the general fuck you attitude that goes with it. You have to get the feeling that you the star may not bitch up and hide under the table in a bar fight.

I have met these guys personally. Spent a good amount of time with them actually. They are NOT punk in any sense of the word. They are pop.
