I love talking with professors emeriti from fields like philosophy and history. Generally speaking, if people have continued to broadly develop their minds throughout their lives, at older ages their vast range of knowledge with easily make up for the slowness of wit that often comes with age.
On the other hand, old people who lack knowledge and have let their minds become inflexible are utterly intolerable.
As for toddlers, those I simply can't stand.
