fortunate or unfortunate (depending how you look at it), society has placed monogamy as an enforcable action. man has not yet been able to accept it.

not saying it's right or wrong but if you read history, monogamy was not a factor. look at all the historical figures up until about the 20th century; multiple partners was an accepted way of life.

if people understood that you may grow apart, you may lose the attraction, you may lose common interestes and that it is ok, then you would have less marriages and far less divorces. i truly believe there are only a handful of people who can really live out the "together forever" scenario. with the internet being what it is, sex being so overt and the open infidelity of women now (seems as if more women are cheating these days then men), it is next to impossible for two people to remain together these days. that does not give someone carte blanche to cheat but it should make them aware that marriage may not be an option.

you cannot cage that which does not want to be caged.
