Wrote her for 5 over is different than stopped her for going 5 over...if your daughter said she was going only 5 over, and doing nothing else wrong, I'd be skeptical. Where I live, police won't typically stop you for speeding unless you're going more than 10 mph over, but then reduce the speed on the ticket to allow for radar error (and thus reduce your chances of contesting it) and depending on how they feel about the situation. So you might be doing 15 over, and get a ticket for 5 over. Look at the ticket and see if the officer wrote another number somewhere on it, like a 47 with a circle around it or something, which can indicate the radar-reported speed.
