FMD Disk Technology...
This is just a post to bring to everyone's attention that there's a new type of disk in development, and see if anyone has more info. on it....
The disk is called an FMD. It stands for Fluorescent Multi-Layer Disk. The technology has been in development for the past few years. It was originally designed by Constillation 3D, Inc. It works off of the same principal as a DVD or CD-ROM, however the differences are that the FMD is clear, and contains up to 10 different layers. The biggest diference is that the laser not only reads "side to side" it also reads vertically, by opening and closing the lens to focus the laser to different layers. Supposedly, each disk has been rated to hold up to and beyond a "TERRABYTE" of information.
I haven't been able to access the C-3D.net website for quite some time. Does anyone have more info on this? Or does anyone know if C-3D.net has moved to a new site?
-Thanks
