Being African, not living there. I do not agree with the ways people are punished there, but it gets worse. If you see how ruthless thiefs in my country (Nigeria) are, it would be difficult for you to have any kind of sympathy towards any level of theft, because it starts with a loaf of bread, onto cars, house robberies, bus robbery and killing EVERYONE in it after they forfeit their belongings, and raping a female in front of her husband, then kill him while she watch, and then gut her. When i was younger in the 4 grade, they brought a kid, 17 years old, and he stole a fruit bag. We were all asked to come out of our classes, and had to watch them cut him up into pieces after telling us why. Do you think i will go touching something that belongs to another person ever? You punish by jailing, and educating kids early about doing wrong. They do the same, but with visual and
horrific examples. Its hard to side once you see what results wrong deeds bring to humanity in my country. However, I am STILL against it, because i came to the U.S and it opened my eyes to different alternatives.
