Although you are not overweight you should still eat less saturated fat and more protein. It is recommend that if you work out you must eat .8 to 1.5 grams per pound.
First determine your body mass index. Measure your fat percentage. From that you can determine your lean body mass to determine how many calories you need to consume.
Remember 60% protein, 20% fat, 20% carbs.
As far as workout, yes start out slow. Be consistent in working out but change your workout every week. Remember that it's not important how heavy you lift but how intense you are. Rest 30 seconds between sets instead of a minute. Have correct and perfect form.
BTW I know what i'm talking about. this photo is of me. I have abs without doing any ab exercises. Those are merely from dieting.
