Back in my teens I was workin' summers for a local lumberyard. It was close to quittin' time on a Friday night, and the bunch of us yard shippers were gettin' ready to lock things up for the night.
I was just finishin' up putting the last few lifts of drywall in a storage shed with the forklift. Being in a bit too much hurry, I'd forgotten to lower the forks completely to the ground before backing out the shed doorway. They were still about 6 inches off the floor as I headed out the building.
Wanna guess how high the door header was? Or how high the fork hydraulic column was?
Instead of headin' out for the pub that evenin'...we spent the next three hours rebuildin' the door header with new 2x12's.
One of those 'amusing now...but it wasn't at the time' memorable stunts.
