It's a nice pen, my biggest complaint is that the ball doesn't roll smoothly enough. It feels like there's too much friction, as if it's using an ink that's too thick.
What I love about the Bic pens is that the thing just glides over paper. As far as pens failing, I wouldn't consider this to be more reliable. Just like how a Ferrari isn't more reliable than a Honda.
The Bic is the Honda.
