Over Christmas my dad was telling me about somebody he knew. The guy sounded like a total loser, so I said "he sounds like a loser." My dad replies "he isn't a loser, he's a very nice guy." My reply "being nice doesn't stop someone from being a loser."
Of course "being a loser" is totally subjective, but that goes along with what you're saying.
