Don't know what sort of shit doctor your friend went to, but I've had it done and it didn't hurt at all.
After all, it is a simple cut in the forskin to widen it.
If your friend was in horrific pain for 3 days after that, imagine how the newborns feel getting it completely chopped off, often with out any anesthetic!
