It looks at the installed version and compairs it to the original version and replaces it if there is a difference. My computer (a Dell) has a partition with the original files. If yours doesn't, then you will need your WinXP install disk.

You have to use the Command Prompt - it's in Accessories

Just type sfc /scannow and Enter

There is a space after the sfc
