"Rich" in respect of money can be very addictive.
Apart from a rare few who were given money, all seriously rich folks I've known have worked very hard for their wealth - and this is an "addiction" like being a workaholic.
When they got this wealth, what do they do? Work to get richer. Their life does not change, they don't waste money (generally) on toys or possessions to show how big their dicks are. They are too busy for that shit.
I got rich and poor friends - they are friends because of who they are and not because of wealth and, unless ya knew, - it's hard to tell the difference.
The odd few rich folks who relaxed/retired from their career in earning money thought they owned the world (not in the arrogant sense) and then proceeded to lose their money on crap.
Almost equally, the folks who head out looking for a goldmine rarely become wealthy. Their ambitions or biz acumen are skin deep and there is nothing underneath.
Richness and wealth is not all about that greenback, tho most folks have been "taught" that is the standard for wealth.
I can think of a few people I know who are damned "rich" - not necessarily in the money sense. Their richness came from who they are as individuals and what they have done in their lives. Some are well-known, but it's not about "fame" or getting the adulation of friends - it's about personal qualities exceeding that of norm. Most of these folks are very happy in their lives.
