Greg, this is so true. When I first heard Art Bell, the subject was non-stop...ALIENS !!!! I lost interest quickly. Then Art Bell left due to family problems. Then he came back. Then he left again. In the beginning, I was more interesed in the truth behind his departures than what his guests had to say.
Art Bell was doing just a few shows in 2005. Usually Sunday evening, once a week, and many of those shows were old ones. He was happily married, and he said on ham radio that he was tired of his radio show. He was traveling a lot with his wife, and he was happy living in the desert. Then, a month ago, his wife, Ramona, died at age 47 from asthma. I thought Art Bell would never return. He loved her more than life. He told us last week on his show that he was seconds from taking his life when Ramona died. Then he thought about his 5 cats and the words of his deceased wife..."take the cards you have been dealt and make the most of them." It was the most moving radio speech I have ever heard. Art was so full of grief that a listener called the police and told them that Art Bell was about to take his life. The police set off an alarm in the studio as Art was talking to us, and he said he would be right back. When he returned a minute or two later, he said that he had to assure the police that he was okay and just doing his radio show. Then he said, LIVE RADIO, and all of us understood the impact that live shows can have.
Art announced that he will now be doing two shows on the weekends...Sat & Sun evening. For those of you who have not heard Art Bell and for those of you who have missed hearing Art, he will be on tonight at 10:pm, PST, and stations usually repeat the show at 2:00 a.m.

Art Bell has brilliant guests...sometimes he has kooky guests...sometimes he has fill-in's like last night because his scheduled guest cancelled at the last minute, so an infamous hacker was called. Art Bell has been listed in the TOP THREE most listened to radio hosts in the country for years.
Art is the best, and those of you who don't appreciate his show can go suck an egg.
