If your going to try and give advice, give proper advice, not ignorant advice.

Almost everything you said was wrong.
For starters, if you stop eating or reduce what you eat to match your activity level then your not going to lose the expected weight. What will happen is your body will start burning muscle first.
Stop eating or eating less slows your metabolism thus slows the rate you burn fat.
To burn fat, you have to eat several smaller meals, plus you have to eat the right stuff.
Just eating 1 meal a day but eating mcdonalds, and substituting water for soda will not make you lose weight, you have to eat proper foods in the correct amounts and ratios.

And yes, everything plays a role in someones weight, diet, exercise, genetics, metabolism, stress and so on.
