We got him in 1996 or so, and he passed away last year. He had those urinary crystals for the past few years of his life, and apparently they are likely to come back even if you feed the cat the special pH food and whatnot. Poor guy. He was the most even-tempered, friendly cat and sooo soft. His brother still lives with my mom, but he's a bit of a bastard. Rather stand-offish and still the king of his block.
Their mother was a calico, so we're guessing the father was a siamese. Just a guess.
