Everybody has anger and rage -- it's only human. Where people differ is in the manner they choose to express it. As a general rule, I try to avoid methods of expression that cause injury to others. Obviously, this forum facilitates expression. Less obviously, it facilitates expression that may be interpreted in different ways by different people. It is common, I think, for people to misunderstand each other here, and for definitions of "injury" to vary widely. Part of the appeal of GFY -- and of virtual places, in general -- is that it allows us to transcend ourselves, to be other than we are or think we are. In my opinion, this is generally a healthy development for human beings. We all face frustrations in our lives and those frustrations give rise to un-worthy impulses. The ability to act on those impulses without the usual liabilities and consequences we would face in the "real world" encourages some of the people who participate in GFY to behave aggressively, offensively and in ways that would result in their removal from free society, if those same impulses were indulged "outside". We must ask ourselves what is more important: 1) That we accept what is worst in ourselves as inextricable and appreciate that we can indulge those things here with greater freedom from consequences, or 2) That we aspire to be more than we have been, and provide the real world with an example of responsible self-government that generations after us will admire -- ?
My vote.
