Actually this is incorrect.
SBC was Southwest Bell (Tex, OK, etc), not Pac Bell. SBC bought PacBell, Amertitech, and now AT&T. Plus a lot of other smaller companies along the way. There were originally 7 CLECS.
Nynex, Bell Atlantic, Bell South, Ameritech, Southwestern Bell Communications (SBC), US West, Pacific Telesis.
Now there are only a few players left since the divestiture of telco some 22 years ago. Funny how that works, and I am sure plenty of money was made along the way.
