Its nice to see someone else with the same opinion on this for a change. Sure, glitzy graphics with flash and all the bells & whistles are nice eye candy...but no doubt there's a percentage of surfers out there who think the site is primarily a money-making machine rather than one owned and operated by someone with a real personality and direct involvement in the site itself.
I'm not saying ALL surfers think this way, but I can well imagine a significant percentage of them do. I can think of a lot of 'old school' graphics sites out there that have fabulous content and project the impression that there's a real human being behind their operation.
