I think it comes down to a personal preference of how generous you feel. That is, what percentage of your profit from that affiliate are you willing to give back to him/her or are you assuming that overall total program join increases will pay for the bonus probably..
To keep it simple let's ignore the best and worst case scenarios..the affilate could hit you hard for six months and drop you the next day or he could keep that volume up for years.
So round numbers...each join is worth an average of $100 to you and the trip costs $10,000 (I am assuming coach class fare as you didn't mention details)
100 joins break even
1000 joins = 10% bonus
so ummm..somewhere in between those two
Ok so I am sure my numbers are off and you really can't ignore the best and worst case as the whole point is to bump up total program joins for six months and hopefully much longer but... I tried
