a lot of people hate it but enough people like it to make it profitable. i rather delete 100 spams per day than have to deal with asshole telemarkets who just won't get the picture. also you have to consider the amount of job spam has created, the amount of money it brings to the economy (spammers pay a lot of money for hosting, domains, ect) as well as pushing technology further by forcing spam filters to improve or be useless.
people should be allowed to send mail to those who optin to such lists. of course i don't agree with harvesting or hijacking computers but its the anti spammers who have taken away all resources and forced spammers to use such methods if they want to continue doing what they are doing. if you love or hate spam you can't disagree that the law is out of control when it comes to spammers giving bigger judgements against them than huge corps who violate all sorts of human rights and enviromental laws and harsher sentences than child molesters and rapists.
