No, not at all. That's what the PREVIOUS deposit was for. Incoming roommates only give a deposit to cover things that they may damage or rent that they skip.

But I do agree with your first post. I never quite understood why Rory gave the $2k in advance, unless he was under the assumption that the ball would start rolling with that money. Which I think he did assume (or think) that.
