Tara, depends on what you're looking for. If you absolutely must live the fabulous nightlife (a la Manhattan), you're not going to be happy in anything less than LA but LA is NOTHING like Manhattan - two entirely different things.
One thing you'll learn is that the West Coast actually likes to LIVE their lives (get outside, do things in the sunshine, etc) - not just work, eat out and drink (like Manhattan).
Originally from Seattle, lived in San Diego for two years, lived in Manhattan for two years, got the fuck out of dodge and back to heaven on earth.
