Are you kidding? That makes them MORE nuts. Honesty and rejection turns them into total psychopaths... sitting outside your house in the rain... calling you non-stop... calling your mother... following you to work...
Make up something GOOD that hits them so hard they can't possibly want to be with you. Go big and end it. Honesty will get you nowhere but jail with a domestic violence charge against you.
