Escort Biz is right again. You will like living in the major cities in Cali.
L.A. is really really nice but you have to have your own support system out there. Good friends and family are a plus when you live out there so you don't have to deal with a lot of the superficial people that you will meet when you are new. There are more nice restaurants than we have and the weather is great. Nitelife kinda sucks in comparison (2:00am !?) but everything else makes up for it as long as you have some cash.
San Diego is beautiful and peaceful. It's kinda like Long Island but prettier.
The Bay area is the nicest place you can live if you are moving from here. The people are great. Tons of restaurants and great nitelife. It's a real city with a lot of options.
Palm Springs is kinda... well... are you retiring?
