well that doesnt make much sense .. b/c if u have to goto the proxy, that means ur going to that route first which if it were more direct would mean just about as direct as u were at first, but then you'd have the overhead of going through the proxy.
that's just my take on what ur saying ... unless ur ISP routing tables are wonky and u had a proxy that happened to be peered on a solid tier 1 ..... but that situation would be rare, if I'm taking what ur saying properly.
