I realize most of what you are saying, but I guess I just can't believe in this day and age that someone, or directv, hasn't made a computer adapter that acts as a signal translator for a computer

seem silly to me...if I was directv, i would offer a hardware pci card or even an external usb directv box for computers

good thinking on the relay device though....but I would actually have to get up and get into the other room to change the channel, and that would get annoying
