Forget the macho bullshit. That's the reaction he wants and gets off on. How about asking him in a really calm voice why he did it and what his problem is with you. Tell him how the money you had to spend on repairs for the damage he did was supposed to be spent buying your kid a birthday present, so it's really important that you can explain to your son why he didn't get what he wanted for his birthday. Do it with a straight face, not a whiney voice. Just a man to man talk with no attitude. Tell him if you did anything to offend him you're sorry and wish he'd have talked to you before ruining your son's birthday.
