I wasn't going to bother responding to this thread at all b/c I am not one to add fuel to the fire but enough is enough.
PunkerBarbie, thanks for the comments! You're right it sucks to be picked on and it sucks that b/c we're women in the industry that we can't avoid it. It's been 4 years now since I started in this industry and I've learned to grow some really thick skin. We have to learn to take things w/ a grain of salt.
SOS, thanks for all the attention that you've brought onto me all b/c I posted a thread about an opportunity that I had come up. Everyday someone comes on here and posts about how they fucked this girl and bought that car and bitches about something. I had a great friend and client of mine offer to do something nice for me and my friends and I wanted to share it.
Most ppl here don't have the pleasure and automatically assume that it's all for sex and that's it. Believe what you want but I do have some great friends with whom I've earned their respect in the mainstream business world and as a thank you for my hard work sometimes allow me to take advantage of their toys.
Canada is not a very big place and if you don't know, Toronto is the NY of Canada. I have lived and worked in the financial industry for the last 12 years of my life building and strengthening my relationships with the top VC's and I Bankers in CA and the US. In doing so I've come across some of the most influential ppl in NA and have had the pleasure to eat, hang and travel with many. The say that there's 6 degreees of separation, well in TO there's maybe 2 or 3 if you're in the right place at the right time.
I am good at networking, meeting ppl, maintaining and creating relationships w/ ppl. It's a shame that my post came of as bragging but in reality it wasnt' meant to be. I guess I sometimes take for granted that not everyone lives the lifestyle that I live. I don't live in a big fancy house or even own a car. There's no need for it where I live(I can walk anywhere and get there in 10 min) but I have friends who have numerous cars and let me use their houses, cars, pools, etc b/c they can't enjoy them and they know I will and trust that I'll respect it.
Those who've hung out w/ me and know me, know that I don't throw my money around and am humble in my personal life but I love a great party.(noot to toot my own horn but I sure knwo how to throw one as well) I am also one who likes to share my experiences as oppose to brag about them. If I have the opportunity I want others to enjoy these experiences as well.
I've bit my tongue and don't agree w/ everything that is said on the boards and tried to maintain acertain level of professionalism but I guess how others percieve me is not something that I can really control except for hope that they will seek me out and get to know me personally rather than judge me on the comments I may or may not make on the boards.
With all that said, webmaster access is coming to TO in May and you can be damned sure I will be at the helm of organizing the parties and am usually designated tour guide. Come find out if I really have a board persona or not. I thought that I hadn't separated the 2 at all. Sorry about the long winded message guys!
