Stern avoided the FCC by moving to satellite but Knight is hoping that will change. He wants the FCC to take a closer look at satellite programming. Patrick Trueman with the Alliance Defense Fund says Stern may require tougher action.
?The Justice Department has regulatory authority over all obscene material. The FCC has authority over indecent material; a lesser standard and so the FCC is not likely to go after Howard Stern who will be broadcasting obscenity. That?s a matter for Justice Department.?
In the meantime, Trueman says subscribers to Sirius should reconsider paying for a service that promotes the exploitation of women and children. A report from the Associated Press says Howard Stern has promised everything from stripper poles to live sex on his new show.
