Business wise the shows were both great for us. We tied up a US DVD deal and some bought some licenses to sell DVDs on the Internet. All this at the AEE. Only there for the trade day, I've been there when the general public get in and it's a zoo I try to avoid.
In the Internext show we got a few good deals and some ideas that should make us more money in the future.
Internext was interesting and I think the organisers need to face the reality of this industry today.
In terms of numbers of people very few can afford to visit the show these days. $300 for a flight, $300 a night for a hotel, $300 to get in and on top of that there's the food and other expenses. A meal for two in the Venetian is $100. How many affiliates can afford all that?
The guys who can now know each other and can do business without the distraction of Vegas, so they come to party.
If we had paid for a stand we would of been pissed off at the number of people walking around the Internext show. Now they want to do the 2007 one in the Mandalay Bay and in March, will that clash with Phoenix or Amsterdam?
As I said I think they need to rethink their plans.
