In Dallas, TX you could ride a 2,000cc 6-cylinder motorcycle and legally NOT wear a helmet. But if the cops caught you riding a single-speed BICYCLE without a helmet, they could write you a ticket.
Go figure. And people wonder why I had no problem moving to Northern California.
p.s. - When I was in Texas, and rode a motorcycle, I never had a license for it either. But I did wear a helmet. My State Farm agent never even bothered to ask if I had a motorcyle license too.
